Bravo to her for taking responsibility for her own safety!
And I hope she says "Thank You" to her friend who lent her the pistol!

Well, thank God she's safe, and the bad guy is dead.
This would have been a perfect situation for the use of a shotgun. It's unsettling to think of this lady shooting the bad guy at least once, and him still having enough strength left to try to choke her. I'm real glad he didn't succeed.

Which is why my Mossberg 500a stands next to my bed, on the far side away from the door
9 pellet 00B ought to stop just about anyone... and if it doesn't, the 1.5oz Hollow Point Slugs that are loaded in the magazine after it will!

I have my Rem 870 loaded with #6 shot. I figure the chance of overpenetration is much less, but whoever's on the receiving end is not going to forget the experience.
If he/she survives it.
Anyone else load differently? :)
Cogito, ergo porto.

Fortunately, Overpenetration isn't that big an issue with the way my place is constructed. :D THe thick horsehair plaster & Lath of my walls would probably stop one of my .40 Hollowpoints.
Now if I was using a 30-06 or the P90 I want...

Did you notice where this happened in Illinois, Chicago no less. The stalker had not been charged on 6 previous occasions. The anti-gun anti-self defense politicians in Chicago would say she should have gotten an order of protection, maybe she did, and should have had an alarm system linked to the police department. She did of course do what all Chicago folks are trained to do in case of break in call 911. In her case she didn't call 911 and die. There will be no more cases of stalking by this stalker. Women in Chicago will be safer because there was one who didn't rely on others for her safety.
I hope she had a Firearm Owners ID card, if not she could be in more trouble than the stalker would have been in for breaking into her home.
Maybe they will not persue it even if she doesn't have it. There was an instance of an 80 year old woman who shot a burglar who broke into her East St. Louis home with a handgun her daughter had given her a month before, here home had been broken in before. She killed him, I doubt that she had a FOID card. I don't believe charges were brought. I don't think most states attorneys would want it known that they sent "grandma" to jail when she was defending herself. East St. Louis isn't Chicago of course. My state rep says there isn't support for anti-gun legislation from their representative. He said a lot of the constituants carry already, just not legally.
