I do worry about home invasion. I think most home invasions start with the ring of the doorbell, or a knock on the door. Another common point of entry is an open garage door, often just after the owner has driven in. I believe that home invasions usually involve multiple armed perpetrators. And, I think a home invasion is so serious that a victim must fight back at once, or risk torture and death.

The only real defense is to wear your gun around the house. Otherwise, you won't be ready when the time comes. You can, of course, take common sense precautions like answering your door with your gun in hand, and visually clearing the area before pulling into your garage and getting out of your car. Being alert and careful may give you extra warning time, or even allow you to avoid the situation entirely. But, chances are a home invasion is going to happen when you least expect it. So, having your gun on your person is the real protection.

No argument, George. Best rationale I've ever heard for it is that it's better to have it and not need it than the reverse.

Some of us may not have much to lose in a home invasion, but then, we still likely have more than the perp does.

Blessings,

The only thing in the house that matters is the family. We have a plan and we have the bars that go under the door handle in two rooms upstairs. One on each side of the stairs. The family just has to get to one room or the other.

Then each of the rooms has a Samuri Sword over the door or near by. If my wife is home she can open the quick access safes at each end of the house with a hand gun.

With our house in a good neighborhood being cased or almost broken into at least 8 times, we get a little jumpy.

The best defence is a dog, a alarm system, and getting to know your neighbors so you can help watch each other.

Seen on a bumper sticker:

"If they outlaw guns, can we use swords?"

I should note that when I saw/noticed that, I was still in college- and on the fencing club.

I like katanas better than foils, too.

If I was the driver of that vehicle, I'd want a partner who knew the 4 Rules.
