I think it would be interesting to at some point in the future (not nessecarily near future) to have international laws. I think i saw at some point at least one of our now many members is over seas.
By the way I love this site.

That is a great suggestion and we will act on that in the future. Right now everyone from overseas has been trying to post porn. We have not been attracting people that want to talk about CCW issues.
Great suggestion and we will act on it in the future when we can address the right people.
Thanks!!

Someone raised the issue of other countries' CCW laws. To my knowledge, with the notable exception of Israel, most of the world is kinda like a cross between IL and FL, with the worst of both: No CCW without a permit that we don't issue, and no OC at all.
I'm no expert in the law of other countries, though (Hell, I'm not even an expert in OUR country's laws!) so of course I could be mistaken, and will happily accept correction if aught is due. :)
Cogito, ergo porto.

I think your right, but we could learn a lot from Israel and the some of the rest of the worlds' opninons. It would be good to hear from folks in England why they have more gun violence now after picking up the guns from honest folks.

With looking to Israel for guidence may be something we need to do in the future. The statisitcs do not lie. When Israel is in trouble they ask the 10% of the population that has CCW permits to carry 100% of the time.

And therein lies the oddest point of it for me. 100% of their population does their 2 years in the military (OK, let's be fair and say somewhere in the high 90% range-I don't have actual figures, but it's unimportant to be exact here) Anyway, 90+% are former military, 10% of the population has a CCW, and they live IN A DA*N WAR ZONE!!!

Let's see, 95% of the population of Israel have served in the military at some point Men serve 3 years, women serve 21 months. After your inital service you are assigned to a reserve unit and serve 39 days a years until age 51. At which time your national service is over if you choose to part ways. For some, after your inital service, they choose to go career and go to officer schools. For those that enter the IDF with limited education, you are encouraged to advance you education. For those with advance education or those choosing career enlistments, the IDF will front the bill on your education and then officer schools and other special schools are made open.
When in time of emergency, the general call can go out and all reservist will report to post and be ready to do their jobs. Each reservist is given their duty rifles and sidearms to keep at home to use in an emergency.
And people wonder why Isreal is such a strong country.
I truely believe we should at least be putting graduating high school seniors thru Boot Camp, and make them make a choice after that to enlist or go on your mary way, at least we would be able to drill some character into these kids.

With a Black and Decker, maybe?
Seriously, while my libertarian philosophy balks at forced military service, I can't fully disagree that this suggestion might go a long way toward solving many of our societal problems. If we can just end the entitlement culture, I think that might even go farther.
Israel is a prime example of success in operation and the old saying is that nothing succeeds like success.

entitlement is right!!! Too many people is this country feel it is there "God Given Right" to do what ever they want or say what ever they want. Not understanding that people are serving and have died so that they could enjoy those freedoms. You truely don't understand what kind of a country we have unless you travel to other countries and see the lack. How much stronger would this country be, if core values were across the board. By no means force someone to do something, but to teach that we all have something to value, and that it isn't always about yourself, but about the guy next to you. To give that brotherhood that those of us who served share. How much stronger could this country be?
