This is very interesting - Also Note in the article that Opencarry.org has a group meeting to talk about issues. Way to go Opencarry.org!

"Any citizen over 18 can protect themselves by openly carrying a firearm," says Brian Nelson, an emergency vehicle equipment salesman who lives in Layton. Nelson is the spokesman for the Utah branch of OpenCarry.org, a national network organization whose motto is "A right unexercised is a right lost."

"Says Nelson: "I don't usually open-carry into a bank. There are some things that don't go together - guns and banks are one."

This sounds a lot like what I wrote in an earlier post about not openly carrying at a polling place. I agree with Nelson's thinking.

This is a good article. I'm thinking about what was written about open carry making you a target, or the first person the bad guy is going to shoot. I suppose a bad guy, who's fully committed to go forward with the crime, would try to take out any armed opposition first. Food for thought.

Good points. I agree, but I also like the idea of the Opencarry.org folks having meetings and having the courage to stand up for their rights.

On the open vs concealed carry that is a whole different topic, but I am happy that the Opencarry.org folks are working together. I would like show them our support.
