Do you use the same pistol/revolver for ccw year round? or do you prefer to change it up, seasonal, or even chage it up with your dress.

I do not know if it depends on the weather, but cold weather sure makes it easy to conceal as apposed to summer.

The .357 snubby in a Unclemikes Neopreane works great in a shorts. Now that I have discovered the Covert Carrier - It holds my Berretta Bobcat with out a holster and works great for shorts.

I just walked three miles with my wife and I had a shoulder rig and my 1911. I am out for a work out so why not take the extra weight, and we have had some problems in our neighborhood.

I think for me it is the age old problem....I take longer to dress than my wife depending on where we are going. The art of carrying a concealed handgun is only one small step in the concealed carry process.

There is "Situational Awareness", Attidtude, and the desire not to get into a situation where you may need to defend yourself. People out at 2:00 am in a bad part of town may be asking for things they did not need.

Good question.

I never thought of my sidearm as being seasonal. I guess I'm just not that fashion conscious. Maybe Lady Di could give us some pointers?

well i may want to elaborate......do you use a larger weapon in the winter vs the summer because it is easier to conceal

I can not speak for everyone, but Dan one of our Contributors says use the same gun and carry it in the same place. Considering what he does for a living that should be considered as good advice.

On the other hand, I practice so often with all of my carry guns that I have about 5 that I carry often. The Carryconcealed.net golden rule is to carry the largest caliber that you can safely and comfortably control.

I am interested in others comments, but I do not know if I carry a larger hand gun in the winter, it is determened by where I am.

In the woods, a .45 or .45 Longcolt (Getting a bigger one) In town .357, .45 , .22lr, .22mg, .9mm.

I like winter so it is easier to carry a shoulder rig. You do not have to take the holster out for going to the bathroom and it is comfortable enough to even wear around the house.

It will be interesting to see what others carry depending on the weather. Good question.

OK, I understand the question now. Sorry if my first reply seemed flip, it was offered in a good spirit.

Well, I carry a .45. So, I wouldn't be thinking about a larger caliber weapon. My Kimber is a light 25 oz. pistol with a 3" barrel and an aluminum frame. Even with the 3" barrel I manage to out shoot my friends who use full sized pistols. I just don't see any reason to carry a physically bigger or heavier weapon.

However, I have this neat 12 gauge shotgun with an 18" barrel. I have thought about the possibility of using a single attachment point sling, and hanging over my shoulder under a full coat. I have a couple of top coats that would conceal it nicely. Now, I only need two things. One, some cold weather or a walk in freezer to practice in, and two, the motivation to get out there and DO IT!

I do not carry according to season.
All my CCW pistols are .45 and only one is .40 cal. If I am camping or hiking or some other similar outdoor activity I carry a Glock. Not that it is better, but because I don't want my prettier pistols getting dirty due to exposure to the elements. I carry the .40 if I am with a group of friends, that way we have exchangability with ammo.
