Do you want to know how to tick off a liberal? Just say Merry Christmas.

"While 88 percent of Republicans prefer "Merry Christmas," (to "Happy Hollidays") just 57 percent of Democrats favor the saying."

Wanna bet that those percentages are about the same as the ratio of Christians to atheists in the two parties. (I'm not sure if I expressed that correctly, but I think you can get my meaning.)

I see the Democrats (the body of voters, not necessarily the politicians or the party itself) going more and more toward the dark side of paganism, secular humanism, atheism, hedonism, and everything else that is anti-Christian.

A few days ago I read a news story about a group demanding that Santa say "Ha, ha, ha." instead of "Ho, ho, ho," because "Ho" is offensive to certain women. In Ann Coulter's latest article she writes: ""Half the English language is becoming the "N-word" as far as liberals are concerned. Words are always bad for liberals. Words allow people to understand what liberals are saying." She's right. And, attempting to quash the phrase "Merry Christmas" is just part of that overall effort.

Alternatively, some of us say "Happy Holidays!" so as to encompass Chanukah as well. Not everyone celebrates Christmas. ;-)

There's nothing wrong with wishing someone Happy Chanukah or Merry Christmas, IMHO. The point about Christmas is a valid one since an overwhelming majority of Americans DO celebrate the birth of Christ. Political correctness has gone too far in this country when we can't say Merry Christmas without offending someone.

I'll agree that political correctness has gone to far. I could see a Jewish man wearing the jewish scull cap taking offense, since it might seem saying Merry Christmas to him was to provoke him. If he's wearing the same clothing as most Christian Americans he shouldn't take offense. However if I being a Christian was in Israel I wouldn't take offense if the majority of people were greeting me with Happy Chanukah.

junglebob is right. "Happy Holidays" is meaningless. It doesn't even refer to any holiday. What does it mean, "happy Columbus Day"? I'm a Christian, so I say "Merry Christmas." My Jewish friends should simply reply, "And a Happy Hanukkah to you as well." Then, we each have wished the other the best of our respective holiday seasons. Why is this conversation even necessary? I find all this PC crap so infuriatingly stupid. How can we stop this idiocy?

Well I don't know about you, VegasGeorge, but I refuse to buy "Holiday Trees" or any other politically correct named Christmas item. Americans are getting fed up with the attacks on Christmas and Christianity in general. No one has to celebrate Christmas, but why should we let anyone ruin it for those of us who do? I'm thankful for people like Bill O'Reilly who is leading the charge against the anti-Christian zealots/bigots. Grrr! You just pressed one of my hot buttons, George! (I know what you're thinking St. Michael.)
