I like the fact that the reporter here understood who the "victim" was.

I wonder how the police got the story about the attempted robbery. The intended robbery victim ran off, so they didn't get it from him. Did the robbers admit to the intended crime? There are no other witnesses mentioned in the story. Strange.

Hospitals are required to notify police of GSWs. Police show up, starting questioning the guy as to circumstances. Maybe they already knew him, maybe they checked him for priors, but that's probably how the story came out.
