I just read today about an "friend of the court " amicus brief which may be brought to the Supreme Court from Illinois in defense of the second amendment by Walter Maksym and ICarry.org and others. Walter Maksym is an attorney who has represented several defendents in "fanny pack" transport UUW cases, he has won all of them I believe. He represented Shaun Kranish in a case involving carry of an unloaded handgun in Cherry Valley Illinois.

The post on Icarry.org forum says the brief will be sent most likely in February when it is due. There are costs involved -- there are fees involved and very particular printing requirements (to the tune of thousands of dollars) for such a brief. Mr. Maksym also needs to be compensated for his time. Based on what Mr. Maksym has said the costs are about $5000. Their goal is to raise that money, and more if possible, as soon as possible.

Parties may also contribute with information. You are free to send as much useful information as possible to Mr. Maksym. Who knows-- something you write could end up going to the Supreme Court!! Those interested are encouraged to research this type of brief before writing.
To contribute and/or send a letter to Mr. Maksym mail to

Remember there will be a lot of anti-gunners writing the Supreme Court as well.
