I just bought a new vehicle, and pick it up this afternoon. I got a Toyota FJ Cruiser.
I've already joined a local club,, that goes off roading all the time. (www.702fjcrew.net) I discovered that they are more than gun friendly, and that at least one of their members is a member here too. I have to figure who that is. Notice that they even have a firearms section in their topics list!
Anyway, this is going to be a big day for me. I just thought I'd tell you so you could share in the fun.

You know what they say, Vegas George. "The difference between men and boys is the price of their toys."

I hope you enjoy your Cruiser in good health and while your Spyder may not be around for you to drive any more, I'm sure she went to a good home. On the upside, now you have a way to get to more places to play with other fun toys.

I'm sure she'd approve and want you to be happy.

Well, "Maggie" the Spyder is gone. I now have this hulking brute standing in her place. Wow, what a massive machine! This one is definitely a male. But, like most of us, he's been pretty quiet in his new surroundings. I don't know his name yet. I'm sure he'll start communicating with me soon.
Today, I meet the administrator of my local FJ Club and forum. He is going to give me some beginners instructions on off-road operations.
Tomorrow, I go on my first trail run with the club. :D

Well Vegas George, I have to say I dont know much about what you are talking about. But, I am always glad to see people get what they want. It sounds like a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy your new hooby! The gun friendly part makes it all the better! :D

I went on my first run yesterday. We had 16 FJ Cruisers participating. We went up Tierod Canyon, which is about 6 miles South of town. It took us about 3 hours to get from the trail head to the summit. It went from dirt road, to jeep trail, to nothing but a rock strewn wash with rocky ledges to climb up and over. I haven't had so much fun since I was a kid!
Here's a shot I took from the summit looking down at the rest of the FJs coming up.

I will buy the gas to back up the trail.
Stubob, I have to tell you that this was hard enough for me going forwards. I don't think I'm capable of backing up that trail.

VegasGeorge, sweet new toy. I am glad for you, sounds like fun. I am going to be down there next month, maybe we will hook up and do some off roading, haven't done any of that since I was a kid.
Have fun on the trails.

Vegas that was great!
But have your seen Kelly's hero's "OddBall" says...
"We fixed these Shermans to run faster in reverse than forward. We like to think that we can get out of trouble faster than we got into it. Woof"
Or something like that... :D
