Good morning from the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. Happy to be a new member of Carry Concealed.net. Lots of good information here and interesting reading.

I live in a non issue CCW county so do not have a Kalifornia CCW. About half the counties here are very difficult (if not impossible) to get a CCW from.

In that regard, the only time I feel like I have all the rights of an American is when traveling outside the state with my Utah or New Hampshire CCW.

Best regards to all members.

Please post anything you would like regarding CCW and gun issues. If you would like us to open a Calif section only we would be glad to do so.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply Stubob.

There are two California CCW websites with forums. A California section here might bring some more activity. I will leave it up to you gentlemen (management). What ever you think is best for CarryConcealed.net.

I would also not mind opening one for each state if we can find moderators for the states that would help monitor and help with local issues.

We need all the help we can get while constantly improving our site. Our team wants to be very flexible and change to what the reader’s request.

Thanks again for your posts.

FirstFlight, I left California in 2000. Went back last year to visit my daughter and grandkids in Gilroy. Had to drive over 50 miles to find a place where I could teach my grandson how to shoot the 22 rifle my dad gave me when I was a boy. Wound up in Los Banos, where we had to shoot inside some old barn that an NRA instructor had set up as a firing range. Now, if I had only wanted to teach the kid how to get naked, use body paint, and ride a bicycle through town, we could have just gone up to San Fran, or possibly just stayed in Gilroy. How wholesome the golden state has become!

Hello Vegasgeorge:

Good to meet you. And how right you are! California has greatly changed in the past 10 years, and not for the better. Around the Bay Area there are fewer gun shops and gun ranges. In San Francisco there is only one gun store left and no gun ranges with the exception of a rod and gun club with a skeet range. Anyone with a gun in San Francisco has to go to the next county to the south (San Mateo) to fine a range. Its easy to find a range in San Mateo, there is only one! And four gun stores. There used to be a public range operated by San Mateo County but the Sheriffs Department took that over and now the only public shooting allowed at that range is for competition matches with .22 only.

Its a sad situation but it is easier for a kid to find dope than a gun store or pistol/rifle range around the San Francisco Bay area.

Well, Kansas finally made it in, so maybe there is hope for California still. The gun owners would have to stand together to make it happen.

Firstflight, I know how you feel I live in the Peoples Republic of Illinois where nobody gets a carry permit. I was wondering what happens in California when you have a permit and then move to another county, one that doesn't issue unless you are rich or well connected. Could you meet residency requirements in some county that issues readily? I don't know what it takes to establish residency maybe voters registration, drivers license change. Remember when George Bush Sr. was president, his residense was a motel in Texas that he stayed at something like 2 weeks a year. Also you might get a Utah or other non-resident permit. I have a Pennsylvania non-resident handgun license which is easy to get, only problem is you need your states CCW permit first if they have one. If you had Utah and maybe another non-resident permit it would be harder for them to turn you down. Its kind of like the argument I can give Illinois politicians- If Pennsylvania where I'm not even a resident trusts me enough to issue to me why not the state that I've lived in for 27 years?

I'd be glad to represent things in Oregon. Probably could add Washington, Idaho and Montana to that. The laws of all 4 states are virtually identicalregarding guns.

In Oregon, we generally refer to it as the Facsist Republik of Kalifornia.
Oregon highway signs have a message to out of staters :"
Now you've seen it. Now Go Home!"

It grieves me that neither California or Texas have gun laws like other states west of the Mississippi.

I have heard a couple Californicators mention that Pit Bulls are illegal throughout California. Prompted at seeing my Yellow Lab/Pit Butt. Just wondering it that is true?
