Nina Vinik of the Legal Community Against Violence said local pressure may eventually prompt federal action.

"People wonder 'How do we make malls safer, or schools or other public places?'" she said. "That's the wrong question. It should be, 'How do we make guns more difficult to get for people who shouldn't have access to them?' Guns are just too easy to get in this country."

Let's see. Must be 18 to buy a rifle, 21 for a handgun. Same ages for both for ammunition.
Must not be a convicted felon.
Must not be declared mentally unstable.
Must be a resident of that state for handguns.
Must be a resident of that or a neighboring state for long guns.
Original purchase must be from a governmentally licensed dealer.
Said dealers must perform background checks through federal and state.
Many places require only concealed carry.
Other places forbid carry over and above specific state laws.

Hmm. Yeah, I see what you mean. Guns are too easy to get.

Alternatively, why is 'How do we make malls safer, or schools or other public places?' the "wrong" question? Could it be because the answer is in arming the citizens?

Cogito, ergo porto.
