Anyone have an opinion on the 38 hammerless by Taurus? I"ve had one for over 3yrs, but haven't spent one round yet.. need to get to the range and squeeze off a few hollow points.
Would appreciate any comments ...

I do have a S&W hammerless. It is a great hand gun. I do not like the heavy trigger pull on a hammerless. In the drills I have always shot down. The advantage is the abiltiy to have the same trigger pull each time.

Your Taurus is a great gun. Just go play with it. It is lonley. :D

Afone, Great firearm!! I have one that I have shot thousands of times and it has never not fired. I have carried on as a backup in many parts of the world.
Put some crimson trace laser sights on it and it goes from a good weapon to a great weapon

Afone,
I have a model 85 WITH a hammer that I've owned for almost 10 years. Literally 1000's of rounds fired with never a hiccup.

Seems to me that maybe the double action pull has lightened up over the years, but I may be dreamin'. Great little pistols, many of my friends have tried to buy mine, but I won't let it go!

I don't care for hammerless handguns. Just that the hammer serves as a safety for me. Not that there is anything inferior or any other concerns. Just you want to be extra careful.

I installed Wilson Combat springs in my 642. It made a world of difference in the trigger pull. Much lighter and smoother now.

I have an 850 and an 851 Titanium Taurus. Both have crimson trace laser grips. These weapons are easy to conceal and very comfortable in the pocket or IWB. They are very accurate and reliable. I highly recommend the Taurus 85 series. :P

It is nice to see Taurus improve over the years. I have several and plan on getting a few more. Years ago they had problems, but I like the "Gun Per Buck" theory and Taurus gives a great "Gun Per Buck".

It would be interesting to see what they changed over the years to improve their products dramatically.

Anyone looking for a CCW should consider the Taurus line.

A good friend had a compensated small frame .357 (spurless) 5-shot Taurus. It was a handful, to say the least. Sadly, he bought it for his wife to carry. Even with .38 specials, she had some difficulty handling it. With .357's, we ALL had difficulty handling it! :)

Bottom line? If you can handle the recoil, I think Taurus makes a fine gun and a .38 is good enough for a carry gun. YMMV.
