For me I more and more often will strap up and conceal within my own home (i am moving to a new place so till i am legal i will propably put that on hold) I do not set foot outside and i will also go through my clothes to determine which ones will assist me and which closthes will hinder my concealment. When I am strapped I tend to not be loaded but i will have a loaded mag in a pocket or very near by. At first it was strange, exciting, and plain ol cool.
The reason for my practicing is to get the newness out of the way, so that hopefully i wil not look like a new gut (to those who are looking for it.) even though I am.

Is practice such as this unusual or is this something most have done?

Practice is the best way to keep on your toes, and be ready. But I would not suggest carrying mags in your pockets. Carrying a mag holder is the best way to practice if your carrying more then the mag loaded in your pistol. You need to find the clothes that work with the fact that your packing. Make sure you don't outline, or any part of the weapon is showing. You also need to insure that the clothes you wear do not hinder your draw. Remember that your presentation of the weapon must be clean and smooth. Some clothes may prevent this. But I can not emphasize how important it is to ....Practice......Practice........Practice!!!!!!!
