Ok so i am left handed what hand guns, and holsters would you say would be excellent for a lefty

I am a big beliver in practicing with the off hand. Being left handed helps as I am more prone to being able to use both hands.

Incidentally, I think the real issue here is whether you're right eyed or left eyed. I read that there are a lot of people who are cross dominant, that is, right handed and left eyed, or visa versa. Hand guns should be shot sighting with the dominant eye. The eye dominance is more crucial, and the hand dominance is more trainable.

A simple and accurate way to determine eye dominance is to ask a person to make a gun with their hand (index finger out like the barrel, and thumb up like the hammer) and pretend to shoot it. They will hold up their dominant hand, and sight down the "barrel" using their dominant eye. If you see them looking down their right index finger with their left eye (like my wife did), then you've found yourself a cross dominant person. Of course, this test may be skewed if the person is already a shooter who has trained differently.

As VegasGeorge points out it is more about both hands and eyes. Cross dominant folks have more difficulty in learning, but I have seen some GREAT cross dominant shooters.

I am getting research for a paper on shooting with both hands and eyes. If you have any references, please send along.

Once you are done with your paper i would be interested in reading it.
One thing that may be excellent reseach is having three shooters each doing the same actions,

Left dominent
Cross dominent
Right dominent.

With each of these shooters have each one of them shoot left, and right, handed. indoing so measure the difference in the accuracey with each hand, you can also mix it up by having them switch up eyes.

While this may not be good for your paper per say, it would make interesting reading on your findings.
