View Full Version : Springfield Armory EMP

Novel idea

I was reading a gun magazine at the local sportsman club when I discovered an advertisement from Springfield Armory claiming to have made the smallest model 1911 available: The EMP or Enhanced Micro Pistol. It seemed interesting, and then I noticed that it was chambered for 9mm! I immediately checked outside to see if the sky had turned to fire and grown men were weeping and gnashing their teeth. One I was certain that this was not a sign of the apocalypse, I decided to look it up as soon as I got back to my computer. Apparently it is a redesign of the model 1911 aimed at making it a true concealed carry gun. You might have heard of it before, in which case feel free to ignore this thread. Here is a link to a review.

So, what is your opinion? "Well, finally!" or "9 millimeter? What is this madness!"

It's not the first 1911-style chambered in 9mm, but Springfield makes some very nice handguns, I'm told. I really like their grip safety that I've otherwise seen only on 1911s.

My opinion? "Cool. I want one." Looks like it'd be fun to shoot, so long as my targets are paper or other non-living things.

Blessings,
B
