I was eyeballing a Dessert Eagle at the range back in November. So my wife decided to order one for me for Christmas. Cool huh? Well, just happened that the next weekend there was a SIG demo going on. So I got a chance to shoot the P226 X-Five Competition. I went out and told the SIG rep that the X-Five was the best gun I had ever fired, hands down! He agreed and I went on with life. My wife, on the other hand, went into panic mode. She called the dealer she had placed the order with and managed to get the DE cancelled and ordered the X-Five Competition in its place. I'm VERY happy she did!!

I've put 900 rounds through it since Dec 26th and I'm gonna do at least another 400 this weekend. The X-Five is my first SIG. I'm sure it won't be my last!

If you haven't had a chance to squeeze off a few from an X-Five, you're missing out on one of the finest series of firearms ever made, IMAO.

Very nice indeed! http://www.ducatimonster.org/smf/Smileys/classic/thumbsup.gif

Maybe someday I'll be able to afford a recreational handgun. There's more than one SIG on that list. I'd love to pick up a P220 Super Match (simply beautiful), or the P226 X-Five. With a P220 Carry in .45 for stopping BGs, a 226 X-Five in 9mm would be wonderful paper-punching fun during trips to the range (and less expensive ammo, too!).

Anyway, congrats on the recent addition! And dang, dude, how on earth did you find a wife who is willing to buy you firearms for Christmas? http://www.ducatimonster.org/smf/Smileys/classic/wink.gif

SWEET!!!!!! Now that is a great looking gun!!!! Sig is hands down one of the best firearms on the market in my mind. The X series is a great race gun. Have fun with it and enjoy.

Ernie , you SIG head, you would love a picture of any SIG, including one that had been run over by a tank and is used as a door stop. ( I just saw one used for that purpose, should have gotten a picture for you.)
Of course knowing SIGS it probably still worked.

"SIGHEAD" yup, that's me!!!! I bet it still shots. "TO HELL and BACK" you better believe it. That would have been a great pic. I have seen a 220 that got dropped out of a blackhawk, they picked it up and fired it.....very impressive, I have been sold ever since.

First trip to the range yesterday with the new P220 Carry... 50 rounds with zero problems. Man that gun is scha-weet! Dad was having issues with his Beretta 9000S, and he put 5 through mine, set it down, and said "I think I'll be pricing out a SIG!" :)

So, like some others here, I'm sold on SIG. Even the battered and beaten rentals at the range are still a pleasure to shoot, and they've had at least a couple ten-thousand rounds put through each of them. They're so worn, the slides rattle in their rails (even when locked in battery).

yup, but still shoot sweet as hell. the rattles can be taken care of, have a Armour take a look at those old ones.

I am glad you feel in love with your 220carry, it is a bad ass piece. I got my hands on a 220SAS last week at the range, boy that was a great gun. let's get the word our "Sig or Bust"

So I managed to remember to save one of my targets from this last weekend at the range. I've included a picture below. This target was at 15 yards. I would have posted a picture of the one at 25 yards, however after bringing it back in; it looked almost the same as it did when I sent it out! I need to try the longer range targets earlier in the day.

Pictured is an 8x11 card stock sheet of paper. The octagons are 2 3/8 inches wide x 2 inches high. I shoot the bottom two octagons, returned it, flipped it 180 degrees and sent it back out.

Represented are rounds 300 thru 340.

nice grouping, very nice. let me guess those shots you were dropping were your DA SHOTS? It usually happens with your first shot in DA, the 220 has a 12 pound trigger pull in double action. But still great shooting. Keep it up, practice makes us more proficient.

the X series only has a 4.8 pound trigger pull, it makes it a great race gun, best on the market in my opinion.

Yea, the X-Five Comp is SA and has a very short travel. I took the Glock 31C along and only put 50 rounds through it. The X-Five has just made the Glock feel like a yard sale gun. :)

Oh wow, I'm having second thoughts about posting pics of the first 50 rounds through my 220 Carry... granted it's lighter (shorter + alum frame), has a stronger recoil (.45ACP energy level vs 9mm Luger), and I have a lot less experience... but it's still embarassing by comparison to Onree's target. :P

HOLYCOW my arms dealer buddy said he could get me one for $1300 no wonder I don't own one! I be scared to carry this gun, to afraid I'd scrach it or heaven forbid drop it.
Vey nice gun!

No worries! When I first started shooting years ago I had more flyers than you can imagine. Its not about who's better, its about having fun! It would be cool to see how you progress with experience and range time.

Keep in mind that I got this X-Five for Christmas and as of this weekend I had already put 1300 rounds through it. I've got a long ways to go, but that many rounds helps with the grouping as well.

That's a deal! Retail is $1800+ and the wife picked up mine for $1600 out the door.

A few marks here and there just add character! I say that now, but I'll be pissed when it happens!!

I just looked on gunbroker and found one for $1,150 (buy now price) - Does not say how much it's been used, but it looks good. I'd consider it, but my next one is either going to be a pocket pistol or John Moses' magnum opus, the 1911. Of course, that's after I make my next million. (which coincidentally will also be my first million.)

Blessings,

The first X-Five I shot was a demo gun from a SIG rep at my local gun range. He hadn't cleaned the gun in a year, and it showed inside. However, I didn't find that out until after I had fired off 200 rounds and I didn't have the first problem with it. It was DIRTY and worked like a champ!

BTW, it was a FREE demo. So ya know that a lot of people had fired that gun. I can only imagine the number of rounds through that gun since it was last cleaned.

My next gun is gonna be a Buck Mark Standard Stainless URX.

Oh so tuff!!!! Sounds like you guys got some good plans for your future guns....Way to go...got to keep looking ahead to the next, it keeps us hungry. I am the same way, my wife has to drag me out of the shop, even more so when the reps are there. The Kimber rep was up my way last week, I was there for awhile. My wife called the range and had them get ahold of me cause I couldn't hear my cell. Nothing like some free play time with someone elses toys.
