This is an interesting read of two folks having a debate in a news paper setting.

... Fact: there are currently 32 “liberal carry” states, where if a citizen wants a C.C. permit, he gets one unless the licensing agency (usually the local police or sheriff) affirmatively show a reason to disqualify. 17 have “restrictive” carry laws, where you don’t get the permit unless the cops think you should. (Good luck.) The relevant inquiry is not which group has lower crime (although, of course the liberal carry states have lower rates of all sorts of violent crime). The interesting inquiry is what has happened to crime rates in the states that have moved from restrictive carry to liberal carry (as, sensibly, no state has recently moved in the opposite direction). Has the result been, as the statist totalitarians warned when Florida made the move, that there would be shootouts over every fender-bender, and blood would run in the streets? You wish ... of course, the trend has been toward lower crime rates. And civilian permit-holders have the lowest rates of crime of all.

This is only one paragraph - click and read the whole story....

Again, you can look it up. These are called “facts.” They work better as evidence than what you “believe.” (I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that your specialty in the law wasn’t litigation)

Can we say, "SLAM!"? Lehrer better check his shorts, I think Geoghegan castrated him here.

Blessings,
