Now is the time for Nebraskans to educate their legislators on the fallacy of gun control arguments. Don't wait until the bills are written; many minds will have been made up by then.

Bill of Rights

Sen. Abbie Cornett of Bellevue said she could support gun restrictions on family members of those with mental illness or a history of violence.
"Gun control or not, that's one step I can take," she said. "Why in the world would somebody with a child with mental illness have guns in the house?"
OK, let me re-state this, just to be clear: of 42 legislators, only 11 spoke up in favor of more "gun control" laws, and this particular senator said that because someone else in the house has mental problems, no one in the house should have guns.
I suppose they shouldn't have steak knives, power tools, cars, medicines, cleaning chemicals, swimming pools, ropes, rocks, or sticks, including broom handles, either?
As for "why in the world...?", how about, "Because the criminals of the world don't give a da*n if your kid has mental illness or not." They are predators, plain and simple. It's up to us to not be prey.
If you lived in an area surrounded by lions, tigers, bears (oh my) or any other predatory species, you'd have no question about whether or not you should have a method of dispatching these animals if they threatened your home or family. (Yeah, I know, criminals are a lower life form and not worthy of the honor of being called animals.)
Got news for you, Senator Cornett: You DO live in an area surrounded by a predatory species. If you don't want to die in the same area, you make preparations to ensure that you don't.
That's how I see it, anyway.
Cogito, ergo porto.
Blessings,
B
