Lady Di, It's Cook County Illinois. That says it all. The lowest percentage of legal firearm owners of any county in Illinois. The highest crime rate, except maybe East St. Louis. A cancer on the rest of the state. If only they would cecede from Illinois and become their own state, then we would have concealed carry in the next legislative session.

This legislation if passed would close down a new Cabellas store which just opened in Cook County. 62 of Illinois's 102 counties have passed a second ammendment resolution, the vast majority in Southern Illinois, many in Central Illinois and many in Northern Illinois except the cancerous N.E. corner.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad you're in Illinois, junglebob. There's always hope. :D

I was looking at the PRO2A resolution map on the Illinoiscarry.com forum and Jackson county in Southern Illinois (south of I64 by my definition) it was #62 of the counties to pass it. It was thought that it might be a close vote on the resolution, Jackson county is the home of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and has a lot of students from Chicago, the resolution went through on a vote of 11-0. If you look at all the counties that are entirely south of I64 and White county which is 95% South of I64, 100% of the counties have passed the resolution. There have been a lot of counties that have passed it already south of the state capitol only 4 counties south of Springfield haven't. This doesn't mean that they are anti-second amendment resolution either, they haven't been presented with the resolution yet or gotten to voting on it.

The only county that is listed as anti-second amendment is guess, which one. That cancer on the state Cook county, I don't believe they will even bring it up for a vote. I think someone said they don't consider it "county business". Shutting down gun shops there is probably considered county business.

There is a more favorable climate for gun ownership down here. I mentioned before that we have the village of Goreville here. When Morton Grove, in Cook County, passed their handgun ban ordinance in 1981 Goreville went and passed their own ordinance. It required ever household to have a firearm and ammunition. I recall after moving down here in 1980 the Bank of Goreville offered a firearm, shotgun I believe, as a premium for buying a large CD. More useful for home defense than a toaster! BTW, the Bank of Goreville has since been bought out so the offer no longer exists.

I made a post last October "Illinois State Reps Who Will Never Support CCW Legislation" I listed names of reps who were in office that I believe will never vote for CCW legislation based on their vote on a bill in the past. With the spring primary less than a month away, if you have any doubts that your rep is anti CCW look at the list. If he or she is on it please vote him or her out. This will probably not apply south of I64 as both democrats and republicans all favor gun rights, to my knowledge.
