Hey all,

I picked up a SIG P220 Carry DA/SA with night sights the Friday before Christmas. Love it!

I'll have to find somewhere to host the image, since I don't see an option to attach it to the post directly. I've got a crappy cell-phone camera pic of it for now.

Went to the range yesterday with Dad, and had a ball! The first 50 rounds went through flawlessly. Had to use range ammo, per their rules, so it was CCI Blazer "Clean Fire" 230gr FMJ. I've got a box of Federal 230gr FMJ and a box of Hornady 185gr XTP hollowpoints at home, for use at a less restrictive range, or when we go plinking out in the woods. Anyway, the gun was a beauty to shoot. Fits my hand well, comfortable, good trigger, and so forth. Obviously there are some better triggers out there, but not many, especially not out-of-the-box. I'd say I was very nearly as accurate in DA as SA, though my transition shots (SA follow-ups) placed a little to the right. I think when I get in a hurry, I'm pulling too hard on the trigger, pulling the gun right. Need to practice my form.

Anyway, I'm really enjoying this new gun! Pics sometime soon, hopefully.

Okay, I finally got a photobucket account... been meaning to do this for a long time, since I can also use it on the motorcycle board I'm active on.

So yeah, here's my crappy cell-phone camera pic of the new gadget:

The gun is a lot nicer than the cell-phone camera ever will be. http://www.ducatimonster.org/smf/Smileys/classic/wink.gif

Oh hey, I'll try to remember to get a pic of the target from the first 50 rounds. Proof that yes, I can minimally hit the broad side of a barn (may not be consistently drilling inside the 10-ring at 10 yards yet, but that takes time and practice).

Very nice! I'm becoming more and more of a SIG fan as I read and see more of them.

Congrads and have fun!!

Oh, and post that target. Maybe you'll get some sound advise on your shooting style that'll help.

Thanks! Will definitely have fun with this at the range and when out plinking. The feel and pointability make it a pleasure to hold.

I snagged some cell phone pics of the target late last night, but I need to get the pics off my phone and onto the computer before I can post them. Will try to remember to do that tonight. Oh, and the pics have a ruler in them, to provide a scale reference. I'm forwarning all of ya, though, it ain't pretty. Much more time and practice are needed. http://www.ducatimonster.org/smf/Smileys/classic/wink.gif

I'm seriously thinking about adding a couple of weapons to round out my little armory, a full size pistol, and a rifle. I'm definitely looking at Sig.

As promised...

(NOTE: there are no bulletholes under the ruler in either pic)

^^This was the first 5 rounds I've ever put through it, at 7 yds.^^

^^This was all single-action shooting, at 10 yards.^^

I have to pay to upload images from my phone to photobucket, so more pics have to wait 'til I can download directly from my phone's memory card. My 10-yd double-action group was about the same extreme spread as the single-action group, but was more consistently centered just above the bulls-eye.

Dad's 5 rounds at 10yds was similar to my first 5 at 7yds, but was more centered side-to-side, with similar vertical stringing.

And obviously, I still need lots of practice.
