It finally Happened Here

There has been a home invasion in my gated community. Actually, there were four burglaries in the last two weeks, and a homeowner was home during the last one. He was confronted by the bad guy, and bound and gaged in his house while the bad guy ransacked the place. He was pistol whipped a bit, and was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

I live in a gated community with armed guards on patrol. The community is now 8 years old, and was completed 2 years ago. When it started, our community was out in the boonies. Now, development is surrounding us. The development includs a lot of high density, low priced housing, including Section 8 housing. Suddenly there are areas nearby that I wouldn't want to walk through at night.

This makes it all the more important for me to remember to have my gun with me around the house, especially when I'm coming in, or answering the door.

I am glad to read that it has not to date been your place and further, to know that you are prepared to deal with the slimeballs. I hope they are smart enough to realize that as well, and steer clear.

I understand your feelings. I live on an army base, with my wife and son. And while, i doubt i will find a more secure or safe neighborhood; violence and brutality can strike anywhere the loonies decide they want to go. I bet your neighbor wished he had been able to put a few of those boys down.
