Hi everyone! Jim Outlaw here from the great state of Colorado. Saw your forum and just couldn't resist. I've read some good stuff in here already, and still readin! First of all, I retired from the U.S.A.F. about 18 years ago. I went around the world a few times with them, was on the USAF Skeet Team for 3 years. Just love shooting, bikes and that sort of stuff. I am scheduled to go and pick up my Concealed Carry Permit tomorrow at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Took only 58 days from first applying. :( . Seemed like forever. As far as a carry weapon, I have a lot to choose from. If I'm in the hills on an ATV I'll probably carry a Glock 21 or Smith .357. If on the local streets I'll probably carry a CZ83 or Sig 232. They're both light and compact and still pack a sufficient wallop at close range. I can't think of a whole lot more to say other than I respect the lot of you for your courage and fortitude to exercise your constitutional rights in the face of countless politicians that would just love to take that and all the other rights away from you. When in doubt just log onto Rocky Mountain Gun Owners web site and read the Presidential hopefuls stance on guns. Heck, I don't have to tell you that, you probably already know it or you wouldn't be on this forum. Cheers and God speed to all of ya. Out here, J.C. Outlaw

P.S. If you wonder why I Conceal Carry; Well, I read somewhere on a forum "When seconds count, The Police are only minutes away. Nuff Said

Jim,
It s a pleasure to have you join us on the forum. Thanks for setting up camp here with us. I worked with a few USAF guys, it is good to have another service brother join the forum. I will be looking for some good post from you. It sounds like you will be a wealth of information for all of us on the forum.

Thanx Ernie and Dan for the warm welcome. I live in Arvada, roughly 62nd/Wadsworth. Anybody close? I also have a small ranch down in the Blanca/Ft. Garland area where I do a lot of shooting and ATV and Dirt Bike riding. The local Sheriff don't mind me shooting on my property (The Deputy said as long as I don't shoot anybody). She was a really cool lady (Pistol Packin Mama type)

And if rights aren't enough reason, recent events in Arvada would be for me. I agree that you'll have plenty of info to share. Thank you for your service, Outlaw, and

Thanks B, It was an honor. Your right about the recent events in Arvada. It's a shame weirdo's like that even exist, let alone buying a firearm. Just goes to show ya never know. Too bad a decent law abiding citizen or a cop with the proper instrument couldn't have dispatched him before he killed those two girls. What a sad situation that was. All the more reason more people should carry. Same as with the Nebraska Mall incident. Nobody around to stop this freak from killing innocent people.

...let alone buying a firearm.

Aye, there's the rub, isn't it? He didn't BUY, he stole! Yet another example of why "gun control" laws don't work to control crime: Criminals don't obey the laws!

The rest of your comment is right on, though. A few more to stop him and crimes like this (or at least of this magnitude) would be a thing of the past. Personally, though, I'd like to get back to the days before some nutjob decided it'd be a good idea to blast a bunch of innocent kids. I'd like to know who that person was that first did it... and be there to stop him. Well.. that or wedge a bullet about 4 inches down his barrel so his gun killed no one but him.

Cogito, ergo porto.

Blessings,
B

I stand corrected B. I remember hearing one of our distinguished newscasters say it was believed he bought the guns at a gun show. A little more fuel to bury the gun shows no doubt.
