I retired from the US Army in late 83, with 21 years service, infantry, heavy weapons and explosive ordnance disposal. Three tours in Vn, the rest of the time as an advisor (SF) around the world. Finished up with the invasion of Grenada. Decided on a major career change,- became a FF/PM, retiring after 20 yrs. Now, working as a part - time park maintenance man, Mar thru Nov. I have always believed in the prudent man theory, and now hold CCW licenses from Oh, NH, & Pa. My favorite carry guns are a Walther P99, or a SWP99OL. Never leave home without one or the other.

Welcome to the club, it's nice to have another set jump wings and CIB on here. Albeit grunt turned what we call nowadays. "cool-guys". Either way, welcome tot he club. I gotta say I am amazed at the idea of a long-tab working as park maintanence man. But you gotta slow down at some point.
Welcome Sneakypete, Glad to have you on board and thanks for your service to the country. Feel free to jump in and voice your opinion on anything related to concealed carry. This site depends on people like you!
Thanks

Welcome aboard Sneakypete from a fellow retiree. USAF here. Hope we didn't get too close to ya in Nam. I picked up quite a few complaints about that over there. But hell, the controllers called the shots. Can't always be accurate at 250 knts. Great having you aboard.

It's a pleasure to hear from someone who "was there, done that". There were a couple of close calls, but, by and large, air support was right where we wanted it, up front and personal :D The really close one was probably unavoidable, as most of the USAF 's Skyraiders and fast movers were blasting the perimeter, along with the 1st Cavs gunships. (Ia Drang, Nov, 65). Wouldn't have been for you guys, a lot more of us would not have got out of there alive!

there isn't anything more comforting air support. Fast movers or choppers have a way of putting a smile on your face as the send haji to Allah (or Charlie)
